Kathy Bisges, a veterinarian from Eldon, MO was inducted into the MVMF Veterinary Honor Roll on September 8, 2018.

Growing up in ST. Louis, Dr. Bisges points out that her cousin, DR. John Eckert, (also an Honor Roll member) was a huge influence in her decision to become a veterinarian.  Seeing Jack’s care, love and compassion for animals, coupled with a few days of job shadowing at his hospital, solidified her career decision.

Dr. Bisges received her B.S. in Animal Science from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a proud Tiger alumni of the Mizzou College of Veterinary Medicine.

Dr. Bisges started her own practice, the Lake Pet Hospital, Inc. in Eldon, which is a small community in the Lake of the Ozarks area.  She was the first female veterinarian in the entire region and credits Dr. Bob Groves, another practice owner in Eldon, for his friendship and warm welcome to the town.  Lake Pet Hospital, Inc opened the doors with one doctor and one part time employee and has expanded  into a 5 doctor and 26 lay employee practice…..and growing.

Dr. Bisges’ passion is mentoring the youth in her area that show an interest in veterinary medicine and partners with several agencies and schools to help in job shadowing and continuing education.  She also works with numerous shelters and rescue groups in the Lake of the Ozarks region and finds it very fulfilling and rewarding.

“DocKat”, as she is known amongst her staff and clients, is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association, the Eldon Chamber of Commerce (past president),   the Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, recipient of the 2011 Business of the Year, board member of the Miller County Mizzou Alumni Association, the Eldon Lions Club, and winner of the Sam Walton Business Leader Award.

Dr. Roger Dozier, who nominated her for the honor roll, and Dr. Rodney Chapman of Versailles, have been invaluable mentors, colleagues and friends.
