    Dr. Robert H. Fuchs (1928-2010)

    Dr. Robert H. Fuchs was born September 7, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of George J. and Helen Virginia (Seigle) Fuchs.

    He graduated as a Captain in 1948, from Western Military Academy in Alton, Illinois, and spent three years in the Missouri National Guard. He attended the University of Missouri - Columbia, following in his father's footsteps as a major in Pre-Med. He was an All-Big Seven Conference and All-American football player at MU as a center and linebacker. In 1984, he was one of 41 players selected by Don Faurot for Faurot's All Star MU Grid Team, recognizing players from Faurot's 60 years as a player, coach and athletic director at Missouri. He was the only player selected as an all-star on both offense and defense. At the end of his playing career at MU, he was drafted by the NFL's Colts, but decided to enter the University of Missouri School of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1956.

    Dr. Robert H. Fuchs, DVM, owned and operated The Animal Hospital in Jefferson City from 1956, until his retirement in 2002. He was a past member of Elks, Rotary, Jefferson City Chamber of Commerce, Lake Ozark Chamber of Commerce, A.B.M.A., A.V.M.A. and the National Small Business Association. 

    Dr. Robert Harry "Doc" Fuchs died Thursday, August 19, 2010.
