    Dr. Ernest E. Burgess was born and raised near Curryville, Missouri.  He received his D.V.M. Degree in 1952 from the University of Missouri-College of Veterinary Medicine. 

    Dr. Burgess operated a mixed practice in Jefferson City from 1952 to 1966, then becoming a small animal and equine practice. 

    He was a member and secretary of the East Central Veterinary Medical Association, member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, the Missouri Academy of Veterinary Medicine, and affiliate member of the AAHA.  He served as delegate to the MVMA Executive Board for 15 years, and was a member of numerous committees.  Dr. Burgess was honored at the Eightieth Annual Convention by the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and presented the “Distinguished Service Award” for his 15 years of outstanding service on the Executive Board. 

    Dr. Burgess was a member of the Baptist Church, Rotary International, United Sportsman’s Club, Masonic Lodge and Moolah Temple Shrine. 

    Dr. Burgess and his wife, Elsie, were the parents of two daughters, Beverley and Becky.
