  • Biography:

George W. Buckaloo, Jr., D.V.M., graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1972, and began his career at the Care Animal Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL. In 1976, he returned to Missouri and became first a partner and then the owner of the Crysler Animal Hospital in Independence.

After more than 30 years as the owner of his own veterinary clinic, opportunity knocked in 2007 in the form of two associates who wanted to purchase his practice and whom he knew to be quality veterinarians. He decided to sell his Independence, MO practice to them and stay on part time as an employee.

In 2011 opportunity knocked again. Dr. Buckaloo learned that the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine was looking for a veterinarian to open its new Mizzou Animal Cancer Care facility in Wentzville.  Dr. Buckaloo is now the past director of the MU-CVM’s Mizzou Animal Cancer Care Facility, Wentzville, MO.

Dr. Buckaloo was the recipient of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation’s Distinguished Service Award in 2013 and has been on the MVMF board since 1988.

Dr. Buckaloo believes “the beauty of veterinary medicine is the relationship between the patient, the client and the veterinarian.”
