Ronald G. Wade, DVM, a retired veterinarian from St. Joseph, Mo., was inducted into the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation’s (MVMF) Veterinary Honor Roll on September 6, 2014.

Dr. Wade grew up in northwest Missouri and later moved to St Joseph, Mo. After graduation from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1959, he went into practice with Dr. Al Maxfield. He practiced veterinary medicine for 40 years.

Dr. Wade was president of the Kansas City Veterinary Medical Association, Northwest Missouri Veterinary Medical Association, and the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association.  He is also a charter member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Foundation.  He was named Missouri Veterinarian of the Year in 1977.

He has been active in many civic activities including Sertoma, where he received a national Distinguished Service Award. He is also a volunteer for the St. Joseph Boy Scouts, Museum Board; Humane Society; Aviation Board; and Parks and Recreation.

He is a volunteer driver for Interfaith Care Team and Hands of Hope Hospice. 

He is a licensed pilot and has flown 83 missions in central Missouri as an Angel Flight volunteer.
