We adopted Ria the same day we adopted Lanie. They were bonded already and we couldn't bear to separate them. It was one of the best decisions I ever made.
I was originally concerned that they wouldn't adapt to city life since they were from the country. By the afternoon of the second day in the city, they had adjusted well enough to become couch potatoes and confirmed urbanites. From then on they were the taters and taters always came in pairs.
They were thick as thieves and brought great joy to us--making us laugh and smile--our Lanie Badger and her Ria Bear.
When we lost Lanie in September of last year, Miss Ria was absolutely lost, just as we were. We established a new routine, but she never finished mourning for her new friend. Even though she is no longer with us, we know she is complete again--reunited with her Lanie across the Rainbow Bridge, taters once again in pairs.
I love and miss you, Ria Bear.
