John Jones

    John Leslie Jones, D.V.M., was born in Saline County, Missouri, and graduated from Kansas City Veterinary College in 1913.  He served in the Missouri House of Representatives from Saline County from 1932 to 1936.  He was a member of the Ararat Shrine in Kansas City.  He was chief veterinarian for the MO Department of Agriculture at the time of his death in 1961.

    Dr. Jones was a past president of the Missouri and Kansas City veterinary medical associations.  He became a member of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association in 1914.  In 1925 he was President of the MVMA and was on the Executive Board of the MVMA 1931 through 1933. He received the MVMA’s Veterinarian of the Year award in 1957. 

    Dr. Jones had a tomato canning factory at Alma, MO, was involved in corn test plots during World War II around Marshall, MO.  He had a grade A dairy and sold milk to Marshall State School.  Dr. Jones was Mayor of Blackburn MO at the time of his death.
