Dr. Knoernschild married his wife, Ann M. Fuerman Knoernschild June 21, 195 .  Children are as follows: 

Kent L. Knoernschild, D.M.D., M.S., University of Illinois Dental College; Ruth Ann Rupp, Computer Systems Manager, S. B. Johnson.

When asked when he decided to become a veterinarian, Dr. Knoernschild indicates he did so as a youngster in grade school.  He graduated from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953 and began his first practice in Quincy IL from 1953 through 1990.  He fondly remembers the friendships made in college and those that still continue.

Dr. Knoernschild has retired and enjoys spending his time traveling, hunting, fishing and “as much time with the grandchildren as possible.”
