  • Biography:

Henry, "Cap" Eschenroeder, D.V.M. was inducted into the Honor Roll of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association on April 27, 2013.  Dr. Eschenroeder graduated from the University of Missouri, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1953, in what was the fourth class to graduate from the college.  After a two and one-half year stint in the Army Veterinary Corps, Dr. Eschenroeder opened Yorkshire Animal Hospital in 1956.

During the early years he was also known as a voluntary veterinary consultant at the St. Louis Zoo, often filling in for the vets when needed.   He continued to work as a veterinarian until his retirement in 1993.

Besides being well loved by all of his clients, he is well known for starting up what is informally known as the 'Southside Veterinary Group".  Dr. Eschenroeder took it upon himself to invite other veterinarians who practiced in the surrounding area to lunch once a month to socialize and to share common problems.   It was he who taught all of them the principles of cooperation and camaraderie instead of competition.  The group still meets once a month, and it was this core group who nominated him for this great honor.
