Sophie died peacefully in her sleep around 3:00 am on March 23, 2024 that preceded with a brief illness.  Just before her passing, she sternly barked three times, as if to say, “I have to go now.”  

I was fortunate to be able to recue Sophie from a dog hoarder in 2014 when she was reportedly 2 years of age.  Her records indicated she had already birthed two liters of puppies.  Upon adopting Sophie, I immediately started working with her to become less afraid of people and not burrow herself from the family.  Soon she became playful and her cute personality flourished. In July 2017, my husband passed away suddenly.  For the next six and half years, Sophie was my companion and confidant.   In 2019, I moved to a condominium in Kansas City, MO.  Not only was this a huge change for me, but also for Sophie.   She went almost everywhere with me.   When I was away because of travels, she would sit at the front door of her caretaker awaiting for my return.     Sophie and I brought much joy to each other.   I miss her dearly and think of her often.
