"Shasta came to our home as an older dog. We believe she was older than the 6.5 years that we were told, but we feel fortunate to have had her for nearly six years. My husband, Frank, bought Shasta in February, 1999, through a newspaper ad. In March, he became ill and was off work until May. during that time, he and Shasta bonded. Over the years that we had Shasta, it was very clear to see this bond. Frank is an over-the-road truck driver. When he would leave on his runs, Shasta would wander around the house looking for ""Daddy"". After a couple of days, she would eventually take up with ""Mommy"" (me). But as soon as Daddy returned home, she would forget about me. Frank would usually greet me, if I was home, then put his things on the dining room table. Sometimes he'd have paperwork to finish. Whatever he did, Shasta would sit on the floor beside him, bounce on her rear and make ""ugh, ugh"" sounds to get his attention. She would not stop until she had his attention. Frank would go to his recliner and Shasta would" Veterinarian: Chuck Dake, DVM
